Deboned Whitefish
Whitefish consists of non-rendered, deboned, clean whitefish meat. An excellent source of protein, as well as niacin, phosphorus and selenium, whitefish is also low in sodium.

Salmon Meal (source of Omega 3 Fatty Acid)
Salmon meal is a highly digestible protein source produced by cooking salmon at high temperatures, extracting the fat, and drying the remaining meat. Because it is a meat protein, salmon meal provides essential amino acids, Omega 3 fatty acids, vitamins and minerals for muscle development and energy.

Whole Ground Brown Rice
A natural whole grain rice that is associated with natural health foods. The bran portion provides essential B vitamins, minerals and fiber. Brown rice is an excellent, high–quality complex carbohydrate source for energy and fiber for colon health.

Menhaden Fish Meal (source of Omega 3 Fatty Acid)
A meal obtained from processing fish of the menhaden species. It is an excellent source of high–quality fish protein and Omega 3 essential fatty acids including EPA (Eicosapentaenoic acid), DHA (Docosahexaenoic acid) and arachionic acid; fatty acids associated with preventing coronary artery disease and protecting against arteriosclerosis. Omega 3 fatty acids are also associated with improved immune response and are potential anti-inflammatory aids.

Peas
BLUE uses fresh, green peas. A good source of protein and Vitamin A. Peas are packed with fiber to help manage cholesterol and blood sugar. Also a good source of potassium.

Chicken Fat (preserved with Mixed Tocopherols and Citric Acid)
A high–quality source of essential fatty acids and energy, chicken fat is also high in linoleic acid (source of Omega 6 fatty acids), which helps promote healthy skin and coat. Oatmeal is an excellent carbohydrate source for energy. It is a high quality grain source that is rich in B vitamins and minimizes allergic reactions typically associated with wheat and corn. Whole oats are the whole grain with hull and brand. Oatmeal is known to help protect against heart disease, diabetes and cancer as well as help to lower cholesterol and maintain the proper levels of blood sugar.

Whole Barley is the whole grain with the hull and bran. It is a good carbohydrate source for energy, B vitamins and fiber for colon health. It is an excellent source of soluble fiber and has been shown to lower cholesterol levels. Barley is a quality grain source and minimizes allergic reactions typically associated with corn or wheat.

Egg
Egg is a source of high quality protein and fatty acids. It is a complete protein source providing all the essential amino acids contributing to growth and muscle development. The fatty acid profile includes arachidonic acid, and Omega 6 fatty acids associated with healthy skin and coat. The eggs used in BLUE products are whole and fresh from USDA approved facilities.

Potatoes
BLUE uses whole, fresh potatoes. They provide B vitamins, carbohydrates, Vitamin C, potassium, iron and magnesium to name a few.

Carrots
Carrots provide antioxidants and health protecting phytochemicals, vitamins and minerals. They are high in Vitamin A and carotenoids. Carotenoids are antioxidants providing protection against free radicals (cancer causing agents). The carrots used in BLUE dog and cat foods are whole fresh carrots sourced from approved USDA sources.

Broccoli
Broccoli is rich in Vitamins A & C, calcium and an excellent source of antioxidants.

Apples
An excellent source of pectin, a water-soluble fiber.

Cranberries
An antioxidant that fights free radicals (toxins) in the body; a natural acidifier that contributes to urinary tract health, preventing bacterial infection in the urinary tract, and aid in the prevention of struvite crystals in the bladder and urethra.

Blueberries
Blueberries are an excellent source of Vitamins A & C, potassium, and fiber.

Flaxseed (source of Omega 3 Fatty Acids)
Ground flax seed contains flax seed oil, which is one of the richest sources of the essential Omega 3 fatty acids (linolenic acid). An excellent and natural preservative that is also know to help protect against cancer.

Beta Carotene
Beta carotene plays an important role in animal health as a precursor of Vitamin A, which is an essential nutrient needed for normal growth development, reproduction, immune function, and vision. In addition to its role as a precursor of Vitamin A, it also acts as an antioxidant and a potent quencher of singlet oxygen. Singlet oxygen and free radicals are unstable chemical species that can arise from normal body metabolism or from environmental exposure to cigarette smoke, air pollutants, radiation, certain drugs and environmental toxins, and if not neutralized can cause serious cellular damage leading to certain chronic diseases.
